Fall 2007

This course investigates the applicability of established and new electronic media for the dissemination of written information. We will scrutinize cultural problems that arise in the acceptance of the new media and the communication with the new media.

A hands-on project is used to further the understanding of the US English language and the problems of translation.  This project includes editorial decision-making, layout, and marketing specific to ePublishing. In this context we use software (MS Word, Adobe InDesign, Adobe Acrobat, and Adobe Illustrator) that is popular in the industry.

Students will be graded for a brief oral presentation, the fulfillment of the five steps of the project, and a final examination that tests the understanding of key concepts in ePublishing.
