Halloween Assignment

I had great ideas for this Halloween assignment. However, teaching deviance, I am smart enough to know that we can’t do that anymore in our current normative/legal environment. So what’s left is a harmless, but still interesting Halloween-specific assignment.

Take a save, but efficient, spot for observing the trick and treating crowd.

1. Start a list of every Halloween character you encounter. Do not count people of normal street appearance. Stop your list at the 30^th character.

2. Take a random selection of three characters from this list (draw an additional character if you drew identical characters)

a)     describe the appearance of these characters in more detail

b)     How are these three characters embedded in the contemporary US. Halloween culture?

c)     What are the original roots of these contemporary Halloween characters?

I expect to receive an emailed attached MS WORD or TXT document with

1. the raw list of the 30 characters

2. the threefold second task (a,b, and c) addressed in about two single spaced pages.

This task can provide you with up to four points extra credit added to your final point score.
