Silvia, Donald C. 1990. “Pedophilia: An Autobiography.” In: Pedophilia: Biosocial Dimensions, edited by Jay Fireman. Chapter 18.

Is there much doubt about the accuracy of the report in the author’s autobiography?

How can we describe his sexual orientation?

In his youth

As an adult

“Perhaps my attraction to peripubertal females is equal to my attraction to males, but in practice… there seem to be less opportunities with girls (p.441.”

Are boys or girls more likely to be victims of pedophiles?

I used the term “victim” as it is widely used in the feminist literature. The author describes sexual relationships of his own youth. Was he victimized?

How would you describe the author’s treatment of children?

What is the irony of the author’s biography?

·      He was apprehended for his caring behavior not his sexual conduct.

·      The sad part of the story, false accusations and arrest can happen to anyone, especially to males, engaged in the care and education of children.
