The textbook suggests to write a handwritten outline first.

My suggestion: start right on the computer

• Make an outline
• if you are familiar with the outline feature with your favorite word processor -- use it.
• Add ideas !!!!!!
• Fill out the outline with text
• Keep relevant material handy: in this case your syllabus, your textbook
• go though them and let your ideas pop up

Your paper assignment: Evaluation of our Freshpeople Seminar   I chose a paper topic everyone, of any discipline, can relate to.  It will be judged exclusively on it's structure, logical consistency, and innovativeness of the arguments. You are not bound by the structure I suggested in my example. If the arguments are positive or negative will be irrelevant for the grading.   The focus of this assignment lies on a detailed outline.  Every point of the outline should receive a 1-3 sentence elaboration.  Overall this should be a 1.5-3 page assignment.
