In the Bible, Mary Magdalene was a prostitute. Some men brought Jesus to her to condemn her publicly. Instead, he forgave her and told her to "go, and sin no more." I am struggling with a parallel between the Biblical Mary Magdalene and the literary Magdalene. The Biblical Mary Magdalene was abhorrent to the people around her (save her customers), yet Christ forgave her and it is assumed that she was no longer seen in such a light (the red light, that is). The literary Magdalene was abhorrent to all that were around her, yet Job went to her and married her regardless. Maybe that's it.
