Here's some thoughts that weren't discussed in class: Christ takes on the appearance of a pilgram and one that might be afflicted with leprosy (missing nose, stinks). That's an interesting reversal because if the psychological were to manifest itself in the physical, Ivan and Marya might appear just as ghastly. Notice that when Christ appears to Job in the church, he appears as a young man whose appearance is very similar to Job's. Christ appears to people on their own level. Anyone could question why Job gets a tour of Heaven and no one else does (except for Magdalene). Well, I think there really is no good reason, but is it not written: "Who really knows: wherefore and why things happen to a man...?" Remizov 3:16 About Mark, I believe Julia was right in her interpretation that Mark is a spiritually rich man though poor in spirit. About the box of gold, that was one of the gifts given to baby Jesus by the one of the Three Kings. What could Magdalene, a woman without hope, represent?
