The case of Eddie Ainsmith of the Washington Senators was a key one in determining the eligibility of of major league players for military service. Left is his card from the Library of Congress, The Library of Congress exhibition,  Baseball Cards from, 1870 to 1914 . Library of Congress photo, LOT 13163-30, no. 192.
