Indian America Before Columbus


The pyramid complex north of modern Mexico City antedated
the arrival of Europeans by several hundred years

The Smithsonian Exhibit Crossroads of Continents deals with the first Indian migration to North America and explores Eskimo culture with a variety of multimedia.

Interested in the pre-Colombian Indians, try the National Park Service feature Ancient Architects of the Mississippi dealing with the mound builders. Also useful is Hopewell Culture National Historical Park in Ohio.

The impact of Columbus is explored in 1492: An Ongoing Voyage an exhibit by the Library of Congress.
