A Boy called Slow was written by Joseph Bruchac.  As young boy in the Sioux Indian tribe, Sitting Bull struggled to find a strong name for himself.  He carried the name "slow", but he was determined to prove himself to his father and to his tribe.  Sitting Bull became the strongest man in his tribe and was known for his obedience and strength.

Through research and extensive interviews, Joseph Bruchac brings to life the history of the Sioux tribe and the life of Sitting Bull.  In connection with his Native American culture, Joseph Bruchac enjoys sharing traditional stories of his past ancestors also.
