Introduction

You are a reporter who goes back in time to do a special interview with Sitting Bull.  You will need to find out information on the history of Sitting Bull and how he earned his name.

Task

• Divide the class into five groups.
• The groups are responsible for finding out the history of Sitting Bull and how he got his name.
  

Resources

Process

• First you will be assigned to a team of four students.
• Each student will have a certain task to perform.
• Each group is responsible for finding the following information.

                    1.    Sitting Bull's birth date and death date

                    2.    Three important facts about his childhood

                    3.    What tribe did he belong to?

                    4.    What part of the country did he come from?

                    5.    How did he get the name Sitting Bull?

• Each member of the group is required to participate in finding the information.
• One member from each group will be assigned to be the recorder.
• The information found will be turned in on a separate piece of paper.
• Make sure every students name is on the paper.
  

Evaluation

We will grade each individual student separately because of their research and participation.  The grade will be based on their involvement and hard work.  This assignment is not too hard.  It requires reading and gaining of knowledge.  Following directions and doing the required work will result in positive reinforcement.

Conclusion

In this WebQuest, the students will learn about the history of Sitting Bull.  By the end of their research, the students should have a good understanding of the facts that shaped Sitting Bull's life. This WebQuest is an excellent introduction for students to gain more knowledge about other cultures as well as their own.
