The 1932 Olympics show above from Library of Congress "Taking the Long View Panoramic Photos, 1851-1991," LC-USZ62-109196 DLC are the first feature of the Library of Congress Today in History for July 30. Historian Steven Reiss examines "Power without Authority: Los Angeles Elites and the Construction of the Colesium," in a 1981 article available at the Journal of Sport History online site.

The Berlin (Nazi) Olympics of 1936 are examined in a strong presentation of the National Holocaust Museum with material of the preparations, games and aftermath.

Joe Louis is profiled in by the Smithsonian Institution and CMG a firm which markets past sports figures has sites for Louis and track star Jesse Owens.

Ellen Gerber examines "The Controlled Developement of Collegiate Sport for Women, 1923-1926," in a 1975 article available at the Journal of Sport History online site.
